NATURE
LANDSCAPE
With this lens, I photograph the ‘small things.’ The 70mm macro reveals hidden worlds—you step into another dimension and marvelat the wonderwithin the tiniestsubjects. Try photographing a leaf with this lens: a map of roads, paths, and mysterious places will unfold before you. Choosing the focus point with precision in macro mode can imperceptibly shift and transform the entire scene. And around the tiny, perfectlysharp center, spirits, thoughts, and ghosts willstir… Undoubtedly, an artisticlens.
I use this one for its astonishing quality and sharpness—it cuts like a knife. Combined with the focal length it covers, its quality makes it ideal for every day use. If you had to pack just one lens in your backpack and aim for landscapes without being tied to an extreme wide-angle, there’s no doubt. Being a classic, I tried its first version during one of my early visits to Tory Island in Ireland, when I met it sfantastic king, whose memory I stil lcarry in my heart. This version is smaller and lighter than the first model and even more high-performing. Simply indispensable.
I use this one for landscapes you want to reach out and embrace: it brings them closer with discretion, sketching the contours that distance had blurred, drawing me inside, far away.
It’s like being a childagain, imaginingyoucouldinstantlyreachwhatyoucouldbarelysee from here…remember? Thislens turns me intoPuss in Boots. And atits maximum focallength, if I frame a closersubject wide open, ittransformseverysparkleinto a bubble of light—a fantasticblur, perfect for wanderingthrough the woods and gettinglost.
