A focus movement method of interchangeable lenses for mirrorless cameras (DN lens) in relation to the rotational angle of the focus ring during manual focusing.
With "non-linear focus," the amount of focal point movement varies depending on the focus ring rotational speed.
With linear focus, if the focus ring rotational angle is the same, the amount of focal point movement remains the same regardless of the focus ring rotational speed.
Matching the optical characteristics of the lens, this function performs in-camera corrections of peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more, to further enhance image quality.

The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its treated surfaces and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens.
The lens mount incorporates rubber sealing to protect the mount from dust and water drops.
The polygonal shape of a conventional iris diaphragm causes out-of-focus light points to appear polygonal. A rounded diaphragm is designed to produce rounded out-of-focus light points when opened to near maximum aperture. This creates attractive bokeh effects in many situations, such as when photographing a subject against an out-of-focus surface of water from which light is being reflected.
The MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) is one of the measurements for evaluating a lens’ performance, and it shows how faithfully the contrast of the subject can be reproduced on the image plane. The horizontal axis shows the image height (distance from the center of the image in mm) and the vertical axis shows the contrast value (maximum value is 1). The closer the 10 line pairs/mm curve is to 1, the higher the contrast and clarity of the lens is, and similarly, the closer the 30 line pairs/mm curve is to 1, the better the resolution and sharpness of the lens is.
*The MTF chart depicts the result at the wide-open aperture. *For mirrorless lenses that support distortion correction, the horizontal axis shows the image height equivalent to when an L-Mount lens is attached to a Sigma L-Mount camera with distortion correction applied. Moreover, the special design of the focus lens group allows fast and smooth AF performance for videography and more. This lens combines a compact design and comfortable operation while prioritizing outstanding image quality. Featuring Sigma’s latest technologies, this lens digitally corrects optical distortion.
Extra-long Hood (Supplied)
The included lens hood is extra-long and features an anti-reflective coating to manage unwanted light. The hood also includes rubber and anti-slip textures to make it easier for the photographer to hold while shooting.
TSC used for a more compact structure and enhanced performance
Since new material (*) TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) is highly elastic, it exhibits minimal deformation. Parts made of TSC are therefore less prone to develop gaps over time. The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features a lens barrel and aperture parts made of TSC, contributing to compactness and smooth aperture operation. TSC improves precision of lens element cells and focus components, enhancing overall performance.
(*) TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) is a polycarbonate with a thermal expansion rate similar to aluminum, ensuring high manufacturing precision and excellent affinity to metal parts.

Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting for sharp, high-contrast results even in backlit conditions. The supplied hood blocks extraneous light that could degrade image quality.

The optical design and stepping motor deliver smooth autofocus during video shooting. The lens design fully accommodates the Fast Hybrid AF of Sony E-mount cameras for super-fast autofocus functionality. Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary large-aperture standard lens gives owners of mirrorless cameras the opportunity to experience the fun of shooting wide open, with F1.4 brightness. Photographers will enjoy the beautiful bokeh effect that only a large-aperture lens can offer and the exceptionally sharp optical performance expected from a fine prime lens. Leveraging Sigma’s latest technologies and design insights, this new lens fulfills the concept of the Contemporary line, in which varied elements come together in optimal balance. A prime lens with a focal length of around 50mm and F1.4 brightness offers an angle of view very similar to human vision. The photographer can use the shallow depth of field at wide-open aperture to take stunning portraits and tabletop still life shots. Or he or she can close the aperture for greater depth of field and shoot landscapes or snapshots. In this way, standard lenses allow photographers to enjoy so many of the fundamental methods of photography and have thus been favorites for decades. Photographers can experience F1.4 brightness and standard lens functionality with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 60mm on the Micro Four Thirds system, 48mm on the Canon EF-M Mount system and 45mm on other systems.
