Specification info
*This product is developed, manufactured and sold based on the specifications of E-mount which was disclosed by Sony Corporation under the license agreement with Sony Corporation.
*L-Mount is a registered trademark of Leica Camera AG.
To increase stability, this lens configuration uses movable internal lens elements that adjust focus without changing the length of the lens barrel.
The lens is capable of smooth, quiet and high-speed AF made possible by a stepping motor, as well as supports Face/Eye Detection AF and video AF.
Matching the optical characteristics of the lens, this function performs in-camera corrections of peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more, to further enhance image quality.
*Function available on supported cameras only. Available corrections or auto correction functionality may vary depending on the camera model.
*On cameras where lens aberration correction is controlled with 'ON' or 'OFF' in the camera menu, please set all aberration correction functions to 'ON'(AUTO).
Sigma's own Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses flare and ghosting by preventing reflections within the lens. All lenses in the current Sigma range feature this original technology. In digital cameras, flare and ghosting may also be caused by reflections between the image sensor and lens surfaces. Here too, Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating is highly effective, assuring images of outstanding contrast.
The super multi-layer coating is combined with Sigma's unique coating technology "NPC (Nano Porous Coating)". The lens has been designed to be less susceptible to strong incident light such as backlight.
"NPC (Nano Porous Coating)" incorporates porous silica as the coating material. The porous silica layer has nano-sized holes with air inside. Having holes of this size enables a large reduction in the refractive index, allowing the reflectance to be lowered more than conventional anti-reflective coatings. As a result, reflected light causing flares and ghosting is sharply reduced, achieving clear image quality.
Incorporates a water and oil-repellent coating that allows water to be wiped away easily and prevents oil and fat from sticking to the surface, even in challenging shooting conditions. At the same time, the maintenance of the lens surface becomes easier.
Aperture ring, designed to help users work intuitively
Mounted with a de-click function for removing clicks by the aperture ring click switch, enabling seamless operations that are especially useful such as during video shooting.
A ring lock system to prevent from unintended movement of the aperture ring during shooting.
The AFL button can be assigned with various functions widens the range of operations available on the lens.
The MFL (Manual Focus Lock) switch disengages the focus ring on the lens. After manually focusing the lens to the desired position, set the MFL switch to 'LOCK' in order to disengage the focus ring.
This prevents the focus of the lens from being moved by accident (such as when attaching a lens heater or changing the composition) and causing out of focus images. The focus ring can still be rotated but will have no effect.
* Please note that some camera bodies may continue to AF even if the MFL switch is set to 'LOCK', or allow AF temporarily even when the camera has been set to MF, and shift the focus when the MFL switch is set to 'LOCK'.
The rear filter holder allows the attachment of a sheet-type filter to the rear part of the lens.
Trace the shape on a sheet filter using the guide plate and cut it out for use.
Using this switch, it is possible to switch the focus mode between AF and MF.
This lens features a highly effective dust and splash resistant structure with special sealing at the mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, and cover connection.
*Although this construction allows the lens to be used in light rain, it is not the same as being waterproof, so please prevent large amounts of water from splashing on the lens. It is often impractical to repair the internal mechanism, lens elements and electric components if they are damaged by water.
The MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) is one of the measurements for evaluating a lens’ performance, and it shows how faithfully the contrast of the subject can be reproduced on the image plane. The horizontal axis shows the image height (distance from the center of the image in mm) and the vertical axis shows the contrast value (maximum value is 1).
The closer the 10 line pairs/mm curve is to 1, the higher the contrast and clarity of the lens is, and similarly, the closer the 30 line pairs/mm curve is to 1, the better the resolution and sharpness of the lens is.
*The MTF chart depicts the result at the wide-open aperture.
*For mirrorless lenses that support distortion correction, the horizontal axis shows the image height equivalent to when an L-Mount lens is attached to a Sigma L-Mount camera with distortion correction applied. (The effect of distortion correction may differ depending on the mount and camera used.)
*The spatial frequency indicates the variation on the image plane before distortion correction is performed.

Wide viewing angle and astrophotography-level optical performance
The fantastic optical performance of the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is powered by the optimal arrangement of 17 elements in 14 groups, including two FLD, one SLD and four aspherical glass elements. The successful suppression of optical aberrations such as sagittal coma flare, which cannot be corrected by the camera, contributes to lens’ clear and accurate point-image reproduction capabilities in every part of the frame. Other unsightly effects such as ghosting or flares are minimized by its state-of-the-art optical design, and the use of Super Multi-Layer Coating and Nano Porous Coating (NPC) allow the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art to deliver visual punch even in backlit conditions and near maximum aperture. Its power to render clean and accurate images in any situations make this lens ideal for everyday use as well as technically demanding genres like astro-, landscape and architectural photography.
Compact for an F1.4 large-aperture, wide-angle lens beyond belief
The Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art delivers its brilliant optical performance in a compact, portable and easy-to-use body. Thanks to an optimal placement of each single part, the use of complex aspherical glass elements, the freedom afforded by the short flange back distance and a fierce fight for every single gram, the lens comes at an astonishingly small size and weight despite its wide viewing angle and large maximum aperture without any compromise of its optical qualities.
The new MFL (Manual Focus Lock) switch
A new MFL function to disable the focus ring operation is available. When the MFL switch is set to “LOCK”, the focus ring operation will be disabled. This is to prevent the focus ring from accidentally being moved, which would cause out-of-focus images.
Support front and rear filters
The lens also comes with a rear filter holder, allowing photographers the freedom to combine multiple filters to suit a huge variety of shooting situations for near-unlimited creative potential at an ultra-wide viewing angle.
Dust- and Splash- Resistant Structure
The dust- and splash-resistant structure* of the lens itself and the water- and oil-repellent coating of the front element will keep the lens safe and functioning even during shoots in harsher environments.
* Although this construction allows the lens to be used in light rain, it is not the same as being waterproof.
Thoughtful usability features
Features such as a focus mode switch, a freely configurable AFL button*, an aperture ring lock switch, and an aperture ring click switch for silent video work further enhance the intuitive and flexible nature of the lens. The petal-type hood includes a lock mechanism to prevent unintentional removal. * Only on compatible cameras. Available functions may vary depending on the camera used.
