“It will be available for E-Mount and L-Mount and adopts a new focusing motor that guarantees faster performance compared to the previous generation. The aperture ring is also present.”

SIGMA has announced the new SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art lens for E-Mount and L-Mount that offers significant improvements over the previous generation, such as the aperture ring (which is also de-clickable) and high-speed autofocus with the new HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) AF motor, which guarantees a speed three times faster than the previous model. Also regarding focus, the new lens has been designed to minimize so-called "focus breathing," thus minimizing potential problems that can arise with focus stacking shots or video shooting using the rack focus technique.

The SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art has been made more compact and lighter, approximately 7% smaller and 10% lighter than the previous model.

The lens features an optical design composed of 19 elements organized into 15 groups. It also includes 6 FLD glass elements, 2 SLD glass elements, and 5 aspherical lenses to eliminate (or at least minimize) chromatic aberrations across the entire focal length range and also contain coma phenomena for accurate image reproduction from the edges to the center of the frame.

Also very interesting is the minimum focusing distance of 17 cm at the wide-angle focal length with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7. This makes the lens particularly versatile for shooting subjects at close range or when it is necessary to operate in tight spaces that do not allow excessive distance from the subject. SIGMA also states that they have applied Super Multilayer and Nano Porous Coatings to the optical elements to reduce flare and ghosting even in conditions of strong backlighting.

In terms of size and portability, the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art has a maximum diameter of 87.8 mm, a length of 120.2 mm, and a weight of 745 g. The lens also features two AFL buttons that can be customized via the menus of cameras compatible with these functions. The presence of two buttons, positioned laterally and on the top part of the barrel, allows for a more comfortable grip and usage when shooting vertically. Other features include a rubber gasket on the mount with the camera body, a water- and oil-repellent coating on the lenses, and a zoom lock switch.

Actual availability is expected in the coming weeks, at a price that should be around 1400 euros for both the E-Mount and L-Mount versions.
