Sigma 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports: super telezoom ad apertura costante
Roberto Colombo, 24th February 2025
“The new Sigma 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports telephoto zoom is a super-telephoto with a large, constant aperture that promises to raise the bar in the world of photography.”
Today, Sigma surprised everyone with the presentation of its new full-frame mirrorless camera, the Sigma BF, characterized by a particularly super-minimalist design.
The Japanese manufacturer also presented other new products at the CP+ show in Yokohama, also offering new zoom lenses with very interesting features.
We have already discussed the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary, an all-in-one zoom with an extremely high focal range dedicated to APS-C mirrorless cameras.
The optical design is very complex and involves the use of 28 lenses in 21 groups, featuring 6 FLD elements and 1 SLD element, with anomalous dispersion glass and a high refractive index to correct distortions and chromatic aberrations to the maximum extent. This is an imposing lens, with a substantial diameter of 167.6 millimeters and a length of nearly 47 centimeters. It also proves to be a heavyweight on the scale, at 3,985 grams. In any case, to minimize weight, the lens uses magnesium for the body construction and carbon for the lens hood.
Among the new features of the lens is a new multi-function ring, whose behavior can be customized according to needs, for example, for constant-speed focusing or for quickly switching between two previously stored focus points.
Given the large size of the front element, a drop-in slot for 40.5mm filters is available. The lens is compatible with the TC-1411 and TC-2011 1.4x and 2x teleconverters.
The new Sigma 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports will be offered with L-Mount and E-Mount bayonets. The international price is set at 5,999$.
