In addition to the new minimalist full-frame mirrorless camera, the Sigma BF, the Japanese manufacturer presented other new products at the CP+ show in Yokohama, offering new zoom lenses with very interesting features.

Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary

Within the range of lenses dedicated to APS-C mirrorless cameras, the new Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary certainly stands out, being an all-in-one zoom with an extremely high focal range. Featuring equivalent focal lengths of 24-450mm, it is a candidate for one of the most complete travel lenses, going from wide-angle to super-telephoto in a single product.

The 18.8x zoom range is the highest at the moment among APS-C lenses and will surely be able to pique the curiosity of more than one photographer, especially considering that the new Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary will be offered in L-Mount, Sony E-Mount, Fujifilm X-Mount, and Canon RF-Mount versions.

The lens is based on an optical design of 20 elements in 14 groups, featuring 1 FLD lens, 4 SLD elements, and 4 aspherical lenses. The minimum focusing distance at the shortest focal length is 17 centimeters, while at the other end of the focal range, it increases to 105 centimeters. The lens offers the highest magnification factor at the 70mm focal length, reaching a ratio of 1:2 (it is 1:3 at 16mm and 1:4 at 300mm).

Sigma also designed the lens to support video shooting, aiming to minimize the effect of focus breathing. Focusing is driven by an HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor. The lens is stabilized, with an effectiveness of 6 stops at the minimum focal length and 4.5 stops at the maximum focal length.

Despite the extremely high focal range, the new lens keeps the weight contained at 615 grams, with a length of 121.4mm. The international price is $700.
